Barbara Pfeifer realised her dream of playing the viola da gamba after having completed studies at the Music Academy in Cologne-Wuppertal (recorder, music education) with the support of Prof. Heiner Spicker. She received valuable impulses in her studies with Ekkehard Weber and through master courses with Wieland Kuijken. A two-year study of the viola da gamba with Prof. Philippe Pierlot at the Music Academy in Trossingen completed her training. Her activities include music mediation as a pedagogue as well as numerous commitments as a continuo player and ensemble member of various ensembles (Les Escapades, Quantz Collegium). Barbara Pfeifer has been organising the concert activity of the viola da gamba consort Les Escapades since its founding in the year 2000. For several years she has also been viola da gambist in the Klangwelten (Sound Worlds) projects of the harpist Rüdiger Oppermann (Global Strings Tour 2012). CDs have been issued by Christophorus, Carus and KlangweltenRecords.
