Ich will den Herren loben allezeit

Spiritual concerts by Georg Christoph Strattner

Although Georg Christoph Strattner (1644/45-1704) is largely unknown to date, he is of outstanding importance for the development of Protestant church music in southern Germany.
Strattner is a complex and exciting person, both from a musical point of view and with regard to his life circumstances. An adultery scandal, which is documented in court, ultimately cost him his well-paid position as Kapellmeister in Frankfurt in 1692. Strattner ventured a new start at the ducal court in Weimar, where he was briefly Johann Sebastian Bach's supervisor in 1704.
