Les Escapades on String Streets

Dancing with a spring in their step, striding majestically along many amazing, unusual paths, over wooden bridges and golden trails, with radiant and heartfelt tones, in love with the viola da gamba – that is Les Escapades with their program „Passecaille“.

On string roads, Les Escapades, accompanied by the fabulous Andrea C. Baur on the theorbo and baroque guitar, travel in the footsteps of the passecaille through Europe: starting from its origin as a folk dance in Spain in works by Juan Cabanilles and Gaspar Sanz, through France with M.-A. Charpentier, Louis Couperin and Michel-Richard de Lalande, and up north to England with Michael East, Thomas Tomkins and Henry Purcell.

Instrumentation: 4 viols, theorbo and baroque guitar

Music: Juan Cabanilles, Gaspar Sanz, Michel-Richard de Lalande, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Thomas Tomkins, Henry Purcell, Michael East and others.
